RoHS, Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC, restricts the use of certain hazardous material content in products that are sold into Europe. Other global regions and/or countries are either voluntarily adopting these requirements or proposing similar legislation. This directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment: Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE).
